Add Page Numbers - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Choose 'Only some pages' and enter, for example, 2-20. The first numbered page gets your starting number, so you can start at 1 on page 2.

Which number formats are available?

Four formats: '1', 'Page 1', 'Page 1 of 10' and '1 / 10'. The total counts the pages you are numbering.

Do rotated or landscape pages work?

Yes. Numbers are placed relative to the page as you see it, so they appear upright and in the chosen corner even on landscape or rotated pages.

Is this tool free to use?

Yes. PDF App Tools is free for everyone, with no mandatory account and no payment required.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Add Page Numbers runs entirely in your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Which devices and browsers are supported?

Any up-to-date browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on Windows, macOS, Android or iPhone. Very large files use more memory, so they may be slow on older phones.
