Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Choose 'Selected pages' and enter pages or ranges such as 1-3, 7. The preview shows the first page that will be watermarked.
Is a watermark a security feature?
No. A watermark is a visible label added on top of the page. It doesn't hide, remove or redact anything underneath, and people with PDF editing software can remove it. To stop others opening a file, use Protect PDF.
Which characters can I use?
The watermark uses the standard PDF fonts, which support Latin letters (including accents such as é and ü), numbers and common symbols. Other scripts such as Hindi, Arabic, Chinese or Japanese aren't supported yet.
Will my page sizes change?
No. The watermark is drawn on top of the existing pages; page size, orientation and content stay exactly the same.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes. PDF App Tools is free for everyone, with no mandatory account and no payment required.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Add Watermark runs entirely in your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Which devices and browsers are supported?
Any up-to-date browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on Windows, macOS, Android or iPhone. Very large files use more memory, so they may be slow on older phones.
